Chiang Rai Day Tour

Leaving the hotel we go to Chiang Rai, on the way we stop at the thermals waters to enjoy and relax and then we move on to visit the Wat Rong Khun or White temple. We continue our tour to visit Wat Rong Suea Ten or Blue temple and also Wat Huay Pla Kang.

Wat Rong Khun:

Wat Rong Khun is a unique temple that stands out through the white colour and the use of pieces of glass in the plaster, sparkling in the sun. The white colour signifies the purity of the Buddha, while the glass symbolizes the Buddha’s wisdom and the Dhamma, the Buddhist teachings.

Wat Rong Suea Ten:

Chiang Rai Blue Temple or Wat Rong Seua Ten is located in Rong Suea Ten in the district of Rimkok a few kilometres outside Chiang Rai. It is a recent temple which is still under construction even if its main hall is now completed. It is above all its magnificent blue interior with a large white Buddha that marks the spirits.

The great standing Buddha, also white, standing in front of the back, is also superb.

'Suea Ten'' literally means the dancing tiger. Here, there were tigers who used to jump over the river. This is how the name of Rong Seua Ten village was found.

Wat Huay Pla Kang:

Often mistakenly called Chiang Rai's Big Buddha for its large white statue that is actually a representation of the goddess of Mercy, Wat Huay Pla Kung is a quite recent temple. It is located 6 kilometres out of Chiang Rai city and quickly became a must-see place for any visit here. The temple is also nicknamed the "9-tier temple" for its 9-storey pagoda that you can climb to the top for a view of the surroundings. A staircase with impressive dragon heads goes up inside the pagoda where another Guan Yin image in carved wood is installed in the centre. Between the large white statue perched on a small hill and the 9-tier pagoda, there is a white hall.
